Olea europaea "Majestic Beauty" -the fruitless olive has a soft gray-green willowlike foliage and a smooth grey trunk which becomes gnarled as it ages.The Majestic Beauty is smaller than the standard olive which normally reaches a height of 20-30 feet and produces no mature fruit. Olive trees require full sun.

Pinus canariensis (Canary Island Pine) -young plants are somewhat gawky but mature into beautiful straight, symmetrical trees with horizontal branches.The Canary Island Pine can attain a height of 60-80 feet. The foliage is a blue-green in youth and turns a darker green as it matures.Will tolerate most soils.

Pistacia chinensis (Chinese Pistache) -this deciduous shade tree normally reaches a height of 60 feet.The leaves turn brilliant shades of yellow, orange and red in fall.The female tree will produce berries if a male tree is nearby.The pistacia chinensis will tolerate most soils and water, and grows best in summer heat.

19. Platanus racemosa (California Sycamore) -this deciduous fast-growing native to Central and Southern California can reach heights up to 75 feet. Many times the main trunk divides into a second trunk. The smooth branches are often gracefully twisted with leaves much like a maple leaf. It is tolerant of both heat and wind and is best used in large informal gardens.

20. Prunus cerasifera "KrauterVesuvius" -the Krauter Vesuvius has deep purple black leaves and is the darkest of the flowering plums. With its light pink flowers blooming in February and March, it provides excellent color for homes, parks, streets and median strips. It normally reaches a height of 18 feet and will grow in almost any soil.

21. Pyrus kawakami (Evergreen Pear) -the evergreen pear grows naturally into a spreading shrub, but is most commonly pruned into a single or multi-trunked tree. It also makes a good looking espalier. It is a moderate grower to 30 feet.The leaves are shiny light green, with clusters of fragrant white flowers appearing in winter and early spring. Small inedible fruit is rarely seen.This tree requires only a minimum amount of care.
