SOD SPECIFICATIONS: No Mow® Fine Fescue Blend

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The newest addition to the Medallion Fescue family grown exclusively by Pacific Sod. No Mow Fine Fescue Blend is grown using Pacific Earth Resources patented Garden Carpet Process. No Mow is an ornamental grass that has long slender blades which grow long and lay over, forming the rolling hills similar to a meadow effect. The sparkling deep green color remains beautiful year-round. A real problem solver in shade, No Mow is ideal for slopes and hillsides to control erosion or for hard to maintain areas.

RECOMMENDED USES: No Mow is recommended for residential, commercial and industrial landscape installations.

COMPOSITION: No Mow is grown from seeds which are propagated in a controlled cultural environment. This results in healthy sod which is virtually free of weeds, disease and insect infestations.

MEASUREMENTS: No Mow is harvested by machine to a uniform thickness of 5/8 of an inch, plus or minus 1/4 of an inch, plus 2 inch top growth. In Southern California, No Mow is harvested 15 inches wide by 48 inches long and contains five square feet of sod. In Northern California it is harvested 18 inches wide by 72 inches long and contains 9 square feet of sod.

SHIPPING STANDARDS: Prior to harvesting, No Mow is trimmed uniformly to a height of between 2 and 2 1/2 inches for shipment. It is folded with the soil facing out to protect the grass from damage, and the sod is stacked on pallets. No Mow is shipped sufficiently dry for transportation and handling, yet moist enough to facilitate installation. It should be installed immediately after delivery. Shipping pallets are the property of Pacific Sod. Should pallet pick-up be required, please make arrangements with the office from which the sod was ordered.

TEMPERATURE TOLERANCE: No Mow thrives in cooler temperatures, It may be used in full sun in coller coastal climates and should be used mainly in shade for hotter inland locations.

WEAR RESISTANCE: No Mow is fairly wear resistant , however, it is not recommended for high traffic conditions. No Mow can also be maintained at a lower mowing height and used as traditional lawn, but should not be exposed to excessive wear for optimum health.

SHADE TOLERANCE: No Mow has very high shade tolerance for a cool-season type grass.

COLOR: No Mow has a deep, rich, green color which remains fairly consistent throughout the year. In summer, turf color may lighten in extreme heat, but naturally recovers as temperatures decrease.

SMOG TOLERANCE: No Mow is highly resistant to smog and poor air quality situations.

SALT TOLERANCE: No Mow has good tolerance to saline soil conditions.

DESEASE AND INSECT TOLERANCE: No Mow has not shown any damage due to disease or insects.

ESTABLISHMENT & MAINTENANCE

WATERING: Newly planted No Mow should be watered daily and soaked thoroughly for the first 7- 10 days to avoid drying out, and to enable the root system to penetrate the soil. Once the sod has been established, watering frequency should be reduced. Due to varying soil and local climate conditions, it is difficult to recommend a definite watering schedule. However, a deep soaking, 2-3 times per week, is adequate in most weather situations. During periods of consistently high temperatures, additional watering may be required. Turf planted in moderate shade conditions may require less frequent irrigation.

MOWING: No Mow does not require mowing. Do not mow fully mature No Mow. To maintain traditional stand of grass, No Mow should be mowed at 2"- 2 1/2". Avoid scalping.

FERTILIZATION: To maintain its rugged beauty, dense appearance and rich color, No Mow requires a consistent monthly fertilization schedule. During the spring, summer and fall, No Mow should be fertilized at monthly intervals with 1/2 to 1 pound of nitrogen applied to each 1,000 square feet of turf.

WEED, INSECT AND DISEASE CONTROL: No Mow is virtually free of weeds, insects, and disease when it is delivered. However, in some lawn installations, weed and insect infestations may occur from close proximity to neighboring lawns which have these problems. High humidity, poor drainage and prolonged heat may encourage disease. Various cultural practices may be used to reduce these problems; however, should chemical controls be required, they should be used in accordance with the written instructions provided by the manufacturer.
